Juan Carlos Reyes and Regina Ríos form a creative duo dedicated to auteur cinema, experimental narrative, and the poetic exploration of memory, childhood, and the landscapes they inhabit. Their work, selected and awarded at international festivals, including The Gotham Awards, blends fiction, animation, documentary, and visual essay, always guided by an intimate sensibility and a deep aesthetic pursuit. Juan Carlos, originally from Puebla, has built a filmography spanning more than two decades, with projects recognized at festivals such as the Dubai International Short Film Festival, LA’s TMC Arts Program, and the San Diego Latino Film Festival. Regina, born in Baja California Sur, stands out for her spiritual gaze and storytelling rooted in the Mexican desert, with award-winning short films at LA Shorts, the Panama City International Film Festival, and other international platforms. They are currently collaborating on the feature film Todo crece aquí, a cinematic exploration of the desert and memory, alongside other projects in development within the landscape of independent Mexican cinema.

Juan Carlos Reyes holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, a Master’s degree in Hispanic American Language and Literature, and a Doctorate in Creation and Theory of Culture from Universidad de las Américas Puebla. His work as a filmmaker and artist spans fiction, experimental narrative, auteur animation, and visual essay. Throughout his career, he has explored themes such as death, otherness, memory, and the fragility of childhood. His most notable projects include: ● Please Send For Me (2025), an experimental short film. ● Absoluto vacío ensordecedor (2021), an experimental short awarded Best Short Film Under 10 Minutes at the Dubai International Short Film Festival. ● Marble Tennis and Sky (2021), winner of A Quiet Life, a program curated by TMC Arts in Los Angeles in collaboration with Brian Eno; the film screened at the Jerry Moss Plaza at The Music Center and was granted rights to use music by Roger and Brian Eno. ● Acaso silencio (2018), a fiction short film awarded a Jury Mention at the 7th Kolkata Shorts International Film Festival and a semifinalist at the Miami Short Film Festival. ● Así comienza una montaña (2015), an experimental piece selected by the LUMÍNICO ensemble and exhibited in video art showcases in Argentina and Colombia. ● Silla eléctrica para moscas (2010), a stop-motion animation recognized as Best Animated Short Film at the San Diego Latino Film Festival and supported by Mexico’s National Fund for Culture and the Arts for production and post-production. ● Lo demás es olvido (2005), winner of the ALUCINE National Festival in Mexico City. He has collaborated as assistant director, post-production advisor, editor, and composer on more than 30 film projects. His body of work has been collectively selected in over 40 festivals and exhibitions worldwide. He is currently directing the animated short film Rebeca, initially developed with Ánima Estudios and now in co-production with Peek-Paax Animation. He is also a professor at Universidad de las Américas Puebla and is collaborating with Regina Ríos on the feature film Todo crece aquí.

In 2021, she directed Nepantla, selected in more than eleven international festivals, and awarded First Place for Best Student Short Film at the Panama City International Film Festival.
